A Cereus matter

Epiphyllum oxypetalum
aka Cereus Cactus,
Dutchman's Pipe Cactus

(Please click on any of the photos to see them full size.)
As night falls, the blooms begin.

Within a few hours, they are fully open.

Say 'Ahhhh'.

Day breaks, and the blooms continue.

Close up, no flash.
Compare to below,

Close up, with flash.

And again, close up, with flash.

Compare to close up, no flash, below.

In all Cereus-ness,

Close up, blooming during the day, with a pollinator.

Hope you have a Cereus-ly good weekend.

  2. Aerie-el girl !
It took me forever to get over here eh ? .. that is an amazing cactus and I love the different stages you have caught with the different lighting .. it is great to compare what the flash does on or off and how the colour and texture comes out .. I like to try for natural light most times but flashes are great to have for those difficult ones .. I used to have cactus but I think I might have inadvertently killed them off .. not a good cactus mom eeekkkk !!
