Look, they're here! And displayed proudly at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle. You can even see the lights from their spaceship above!
This was one of the beautiful floral arrangements.It won an award.
Perhaps not a 'major award' the likes of which Mr Parker received in
A Christmas Story, but still, it won an award!
Who said you can't wear purple and red together?They look gorgeous here, don't you think?
And here are the treasures that I found and couldn't pass by.The poster was FREE and who doesn't love a bargain like that? :)

Loved those cobra lily "aliens" too! Hee hee. You got some cool stuff - what is that, a rake or an ornament? Where did the tool basket come from, if that's what it is? I got a poster too. Hard to pass up free! Nice post.

Ah, garden goodies! Love the harvest basket! And A Christmas Story? We watch that every year, it's become a tradition in our home :) We know every line and love it!

Karen, after I took that photo I realized you couldn't really see the various objects- duh-oh.
There's a bundle of Y-stakes propped up against a metal rake which has an adjustable fan head. I've already used them both too, so definitely worthwhile purchases for me.

Lona, it was so striking, and there were 4 other sides to the display that were gorgeous as well. Each one blending the quilts, garden, and surroundings together into beautiful scenes. Made me want to pull out my stash and start sewing (and sowing in the garden!!) when I got home (except it was late, and dark:).

ReplyDeleteWhat is Licorace Fern like? I see a little sign there next to it. I love Hyssop which smells like licorace; I need to check into this one, I'd love to grow it!
I wonder what goodies you have in those little bags? Bulbs, tubers, etc? Looks like you had a great time!

ReplyDeleteFrom what my friend (who is a Native Plant Steward) told me, and what I've since learned (from a fantastic book, Plants of the Pacific Northwest Coast, by Pojar & MacKinnon), the licorice fern that grows near me has rhizomes that taste like licorice. The local Native Americans used to eat it for the taste, use it medicinally for sore throats and colds, and used it as a sweetener with bitter medicines. It's a pretty fern that I see, often growing on the trees, on mountain hikes.
In the two bags...1 contains what's sure to be a beauty, echinacea 'summer sky' and the other a pretty monarda 'coral reef'. Winners for the hummingbirds and butterflies, I hope!
