Skywatch Friday - changing conditions

This week has been an interesting one, weather wise, hasn't it? Monday brought snow to our location twice. Once in the morning (accumulation: 2 inches), then a brief warm-up midday, then snow again in the afternoon (accumulation: 2 inches).

It was apparent we weren't in for an easy ride that day
when these ominous-looking clouds (above) showed up.

Tuesday morning was freezing cold. Of course the roads here were a sheet of ice, so rather than slip and slide to my class that day, I played hooky.

But the clouds began to part, and the sun shone.

And the photo above was taken yesterday. So you see, the weather has definitely taken a turn for the spring!
Yes, there, I've said it. Spring. It's in the air.

A second skywatch for the blog today, special just for you, includes a couple shots of our local beauty, Mount Rainier with what looks like smoke signals coming from her recently.

Do you think she's telling us...yes, Spring is on the horizon!?

  6. We have had an interesting week of weather!! It feels so nice today, sun and blue sky. We still have some snow in the shady spots, but the plants are looking happier!

  7. What a wonderful mountain - you must never tire of that view. Hope that the blue sky is an indicator of warmer days on the near horizon.

  11. I hope she's saying that and not "I'm about to erupt!" :) Yeah, wacky week here. I don't care if I jinx it, spring has GOT to be here now!

  12. I sure hope spring will be here soon.
    We sure are lucky to live here in the Pacific northwest. We have such beautiful scenery.

  13. Is this the view from your home? I see this is an affirmative from your answer to Foreta's question. My gosh, your view is breathtaking. You are lucky. And yes this past week's weather was ridiculous. :)

    GardenJoy4Me,
    Scary, like Halloween! :)
    I am so ready for spring. I won't even tell you what they're saying about Mon-Tues weather here. I don't want to think about it. I'm just going to enjoy the rain this weekend, and think spring!

    =====================
    Catherine, It was a wonderful week, yes! I got some veggie seeds planted, weeding done, and containers planted too. Perfect weather for outside work. I think we're all (plants and people!) saying 'more spring weather please'!

    ======================
    Anna, even if we won the lottery, we wouldn't move (the house isn't that great, but the view is!). There used to be a resort on this lake, back in the day. We found out about it when we put in our fence and found a layer of concrete where the old carousel used to be. It's fascinating to learn about the local history.

    ===================
    Janet, thank you! We spend plenty of time on the deck during decent weather, and even not so great weather!

    =====================
    Tessa, I so enjoy the change of seasons and snow on trees is one of those things I adore...when falls turns to winter! :)

    =======================
    Karen, hehe, could be what she's saying. And I'm saying ...Nooooooooooo, no more snow!

    ====================
    Keewee, I couldn't agree with you more! And in spite of the wacky weather, many of my friends and family wish they were able to work in the soil already.

    ==================
    Grace, I feel so spoiled! Both with our long, cool growing season and the setting we have in which to do it!

    =====================
    Gran, Thanks! Me too!!

    ======================
    Janice, I'm certain I won't. I will look forward to seeing more of your writing! A bientot!
